Dr. Hal Shigley received his M.A. in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Florida and his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia in 1973.  He has taught at the university level, been the Clinical Director of two regional TEACCH centers, served as a psychologist in the Outreach Program at the Murdoch Center, and has been in private practice in Raleigh, North Carolina for the past 12 years.  One focus of his private work has been with families of young, developmentally-handicapped children, providing assessment and treatment services in a clinical setting.  Current consultation contracts include The Governor Morehead Preschool Program for Visually Impaired Children, Autism Services of Wake County, serving adults with autism in an ICF/MR group home setting, and the Willie M. Program of Cumberland County Mental Health Center.

Dr. Shigley is married, with a daughter and two stepsons in college, and an adult daughter with severe mental and physical handicaps.  He enjoys fishing and spending time with his family and friends in their log cabin in the mountains.
